A 2020 addition was too large a file size for the 1997 internet and for low budget computing when hard drives were more expensive. This rendering probably took all day for the ap to render.

The original content below remains mostly intact from posting on earlier servers and URLs since 1997.

Tetrahedral Discussions On The Synergetics Forum (1997)

I found a like mind Don Briddell, on a synergetics web-forum.  My new forum-friend had modeled some curved connectors to tetrahedron vertices. He called his models Torsion Structures, (from his1965, "Structheroy"school project with a fellow student).   I was very intrigued with the simple geometry. I had been experimenting with a variety of unusually-shaped electromagnetic fields and was beginning to master a powerful new modeling software. The tetrahedron was a recurring subject on the synergetics forum.

This page was a place to share images and a visual dialog. At that time, the www was primitive as compared with the later high speed connections. Computers were much harder to use and storage of digital files was prohibitive. The www bandwidth was commonly expected to remain small. Web search-engines were more of a hopeful theory, as there was hardly anything to search for. I just wanted to post bits of my work, in hopes of finding work of any kind.

Progressive renderings explored 3d-solid modeling which was very new to the public using PCs.

(Incorrect Chirality, and disapproved intersections)

These renderings use internal lighting, which is not diminished by shadows of the internal structure of model.

This third model rendering, with three individual thinner tubes has a transparent membrane which is stretched among the tubes. The membrane has a mirroring- reflective surface, (a little like soapy film).

Another interpretation for this structure is three "figure 8s", whose lobes are twisted, and the set of three are evenly distributed, by rotation around a common axis. If instead of three "figure 8" lobes, we were to increase a quantity of say 27 "figure 8s" lobes total, we obtain a configurations which begins to relate to a structure, poloidal geometry. See tetrahedron used as a mold to model an example of a poloidal structure.

This forth model rendering shows the transparent membrane with the mirror quality off, placed in a matrix of copies, (all on a flat plane in this instance). (Placement was not organized very carefully).

Below are "hidden line" renderings of a solid version, (three views of same unit). This model used a double set of identical structors rotated half way. Then this identical set was scaled to half the size of the first. Then a smooth surface was applied.

To left is a rendered model of many of the above solid structor models placed in a "star burst grid" (an isotropic vector matrix ).

These are similar to Don's "5b" outlines. Here a clam like radial pattern is imposed. Thin shell like mesh is used.

Here is some speculation about poloidal geometry. Click here to see "hyper" spiraling, concentric spheres. or consider a spiraling sphere model. Enersearch was incorporated in 1980 but never materialized financially.
