Above: The externally ribbed ringforcement dome concept. The idea here is to have a thin shell ringforcement dome with raised external rings embossed. "External" steel rings will be encased with cement/ concrete. The effect is for aesthetic style exploration as well as utility of reinforcement. This dome could be a building of any size. The rings conform perfectly to a concrete dome shell, so placement can be freely and easily choosen.

In a recent discussion on the web, the concept of utilizing ring frames to reinforce a ferro cement vault was proposed. Here is a computer rendering showing how rings could conceivably be molded direcrtly in an earth mold. The ring layout is geodesic. More concept details will be posted here if discussion should continue.

 

Too little is known about actual test comparisons between traditional reinforcement, flat spiral loops and individual "O" rings. Rings appear to have interesting test possibilities. As a low budget single handed developer, I have very little opportunity to test the many ideas presented in these www pages. The testing cannot keep up with my my conceptual exploration.
